Message from the Pastor

Welcome to our congregation's web site. As the pastor of our local Christian community, I would like to explain to you what we are seeking to become as a local congregation.

Our desire is to allow God to create the kind of community the original disciples experienced when He poured out the Spirit and gave birth to the first Christian community. The disciples devoted themselves to the apostles teaching, fellowship (togetherness), breaking of bread, and prayer (Acts 2:42).

There was a spontaneous outpouring of generosity toward one another and caring for each other's needs through a spirit of sharing. The early Christians proclaimed the good news of what God had done through Jesus and ministered to those in need. Those who believed were baptized and became part of the family of believers and members of the local Christian communities.

Since our international fellowship was originally a media-based ministry radio, television, magazine our membership consists of people from all over the world and, locally, all the way from Pemberton (North of Whistler) to Langley.

This presents us with a challenge: how do we build genuine intimate community with our members spread so far apart? We are taking the New Testament example of house churches and striving to become a church of small groups meeting in homes.

In a small group everybody is known and therefore each can be personally "pastored to" and can also "pastor" fellow Christians. Christians become members of a family - God's family and Jesus teaches us that He expects us to support and care for one another.

To live "intimately" requires patience, forbearance and forgiveness attributes Jesus requires His disciples to develop and exercise in their relationships with others. Being a disciple of Jesus involves having a desire to follow his example and actively seeking to follow His example with the aid and empowerment of the Spirit.

We also come together as a congregation once a week to worship, pray, learn and fellowship similar to what the first Christians did (Acts 2:42-47). Please feel free to visit us. We would love to have you join us in worship, and for food and fellowship afterwards.

God bless you as you seek His Way,

Roy Page
